Home Staging Tips for a Successful Metro Atlanta Home Sale
As you may have read in our past blog post, Why You Should List Your Home Before the Holidays, now is an opportune time to put your goal of selling your Metro Atlanta home into motion. But before you place a “For Sale” sign in the yard and sit back to wait for the offers to roll in, there are a few steps you can take to make your home more appealing and attract as many Atlanta area buyers as possible.
So where do you start? Home staging! You’ve likely heard the term before and it is one of the keys to setting yourself up for a successful Metro Atlanta home sale. Simple techniques like boosting curb appeal, clearing interior clutter and creating a neutral palette can do wonders for the marketability of your property. Below are three important tips to properly stage your Brookhaven, Buckhead, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Roswell or Alpharetta home to sell:
Clear out the clutter
Nothing can turn a Metro Atlanta homebuyer away quicker than a home filled with clutter. Yes, that means excessive decor, large furniture pieces that block walkways or focal points, knick knacks and countertops scattered with mail, personal items or small appliances. The first step to take is to make sure that all of these items have a proper home— mail should be organized in one area (away from countertops), small appliances like mixers should be placed in a cabinet, and all furniture should be moved in order to create clear pathways into other rooms.
Create a neutral palette
You may love your living room’s bright red walls, but remember that other buyers may not. In fact, it’s best to stick to a neutral color palette when staging your home for sale. Think grays, whites, creams and beiges for paint colors and keep distracting decor to a minimum. This also can mean removing personal items like family photos from the walls for the duration of time that your home is listed. Buyers want to be able to envision themselves living in the property and highly personal items such as these can alter their ability to do so.
Create an inviting atmosphere
In order to allow buyers to envision themselves moving right in, your Metro Atlanta home should both look and feel inviting. That means setting the table to highlight entertaining potential, making the beds with crisp, clean linens and leaving fresh towels folded in the bathrooms. These easy tips are perfect for evoking a sense of luxury in the home and can easily pique buyer interest.
